s-w-e-p interns discover Tenerife from a different perspective – the bird’s eye view
Infected by Johanna’s first flying-adventure with skydiving, a few days later Denise had the idea for the next extreme-experience over the Canary Islands: Paragliding. Following the dream to fly we put ourselves in the care of the best team you can find on the Canaries. In the following you can read more about our day in the sky of Tenerife:
Everything happened pretty fast: “Of course you can fly with us! How about tomorrow?” No time to think or rethink, because right the next day after our call a lovely and extremely funny crew expected us. They brought us and all the equipment to the starting point “Ifonche” at about 1100m. The paragliding-adventure had begun...
We watched nervously how the paraglider with all their thin, coloured twine got unwrapped and prepared. Without any delay we’ve been strapped to our seats, which according to Goyo, one of the pilots, should soon be even more comfortable than a couch. That’s how we stood few minutes later in front of the deep hollow - shrouded in several layers of pullovers and equipped with helmet, camera and a big portion of fear. “Don’t worry”, said one of the other pilots called Eduardo, “Safety always comes first.” A short introduction how the start works followed and then it happened: running how fast your legs can and before we even knew it, we were proverbial up in the air. An unbelievable experience!

There were so many impressions that we didn’t even know where to look first. Below our feet the south coast of Tenerife spreaded from Los Cristianos to Los Gigantes, glimmering in the warm light of sunset. As they were little toys one could see all the houses and hotels from above, watch tiny cars and ships moving and have a look into the breathtaking canyon of “Barranco del Infierno”. Additionally Goyo was right: during the tandem flight you can relax, sit back and enjoy the fascinating view. The best part was when we rised so high that we were flying in the clouds and on our way back we even hovered face to face with a seagull. But the team also provided loads of fun and arranged, that our flight paths crossed several times for cheering.

After about half an hour, which appeared way too short, we landed by getting some excited looks from the tourists on the beach of La Caleta. With a longing gaze back to the mountain top, from which we startet we knew: this hasn’t been our last flight, but the beginning of a new passion!

If you would also like to come to enjoy the view on the Canary Islands from bird’s eye perspective, contact an adequate flight school near of you.
We would like to thank the great and incredibly funny team of TenerFly, which made this dream for us come true.

Enjoy the time of your practical placement in Spain - many adventures are waiting for you!
